Hope you are well
Today we will be sharing on complacency-
Complacency can be seen as-
‘A combination with a lack of awareness and actions to progress in, an example of complacency is the type of attitude someone has had for a long time, of uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements.’
As we can see complacency is an attitude that one can say is built up over time, with dissatisfaction with ones current state and or achievements. You are in such a way when you feel as though your efforts aren’t enough, or that you have tried and maybe it is just best to stay with the average and not put in as much effort and work in, for different results.
Such a state can make one accept and do less than is necessary and that can be very dangerous because of what you miss out on had you given your best in the first place and not allowed yourself to become complacent.
Revelation 3:15-16 - “I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”
This scripture came to mind and it made me reflect deeply on the term complacency and checking my own life and if I am complacent in any way. It is not wise to be in such state, as the word says you are neither hot nor cold you are just there wondering day to day and get by doing and accepting the minimum.
No matter what life throws at you we should aim to not be lukewarm because the consequence of such will be God spitting you out of His mouth. How sad will this be if it were your story?
Do you know how deep and strong of a term this is, think about it when you don’t like the taste of something you are very quick to act on that distaste so that you are not associating yourself with it, so you do what will help the situation by spitting it out, because the taste is not something you want anymore.
We discard things we don’t like and if this is in the word to address lukewarm people, then we must ensure that we don’t become what God will spit out.
So reflect on areas in your life and see where you have been complacent and pray over it and let God address those things in your life. And go as far as praying for areas in your life where you have allowed yourself to become lukewarm.
Reflect on this-
- Which areas in your life are you complacent in?
- What do you struggle to do?
- What is the root of this complacency?
Be blessed and encouraged
Trust you are well
It’s been a while, but we are back with new and fresh content and pray it will bless you.
I want to share this with you and pray it encourages you to dig deeper and do more. So recently on my journey one evening, God gave me this amazing analogy using my car.
I had to move to the far left for the cars opposite me to be able to pass and as I did that I heard the Lord say clearly to me that ‘If I decided not to move and give way to the cars ahead, all the cars behind me will be stuck. And as a leader that’s not how to act, we must act in accordance to what is right, so that those behind us can learn, be equipped and move not stay stagnant.’
At the time, in that moment, hearing this message I was able to take away a lot from this and was really encouraged. Because we know that working with people at times, let alone leading in what God has called you to lead in, can at times take its toll it is not always a smooth ride.
BUT we need to be made aware that it is not about us, but those we are called to serve and helping them as led by God is key. Because let’s face it, the actions we do today is what those who are behind us will look at and follow. We are ambassadors here on earth for Christ, doing what He has called us to do and so we need to reflect on-
- How do you lead those God has called you to?
- Where are you operating from? The spirit or the flesh?
- What is your focus?
- What are your struggles?
I just wanted to leave you all with this, to bless and encourage you to do more and be bold in what you do, as God is always in control and loves you very much to lead you on the right path.
Stay blessed and speak soon
WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST IS ALL THAT MATTERS..
“We are new creations in Christ (2 COR 5:17)”
TO PONDER ON-
- WHO DOES THE LORD SAY YOU ARE ?
- DO YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF?
- CAN YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD?
- WHAT HAVE YOU ALLOWED TO HOLD YOU BACK?
- WHO HAVE YOU ALLOWED TO TRY TO HOLD YOU BACK?
- IF YOU HAD TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN 5 WORDS WHAT WOULD YOU SAY?
- WHAT CHANGES CAN YOU MAKE IN YOUR LIFE?
BE BLESSED AND ENCOURAGED
“We are new creations in Christ (2 Cor 5:17)
We had our first gathering of the year last month and the area of identity came up. It was an eye opener to see how some of the ladies struggled to see how God saw them. It made me realise that with many of us, we know what the word of God says, we go to church, and we pray and speak of God’s goodness.
BUT if we don’t truly study the word to know and truly believe who God says we are then we will always struggle to live the life He has for us, whilst believing who He says we are.
So we have to take it back the root cause-
- Why do you struggle to know what the word of God says?
- What or who have you let in to make you doubt the truth?
- How do you speak about yourself?
- How often do you stay in God’s presence to hear Him?
The scripture above leads us to understand that our identity in Christ is one of newness and you are no longer the things you did, or the people’s opinions of you. How we are in Christ now should be how we see ourselves and not how we used to be in the world. I read somewhere that our identity can be defined as “the collective aspect of the set of characteristics by which a thing is definitively recognizable or known.”
If you cannot recognise who you are in Christ, you will keep living below His standard for you, miss out on His best for you and will always be frustrated at life. When you are in Christ, that will be shown through your actions, your speech and how you treat others, you will be transformed from the inside out and not just one day, but daily as God will keep doing a beautiful work in us.
We are followers of Christ and no matter what life brings our way it is important to not let that stop us from being great. The difference now is that how we define ourselves will align to the word of God and not the ways of the world.
