Hey lovelies, let us pray…

Dear Father,

Thank you for all that you have done for us, thank you for blessing us and providing provisions for us. I ask that you help us to be content with what we have, who we are and the seasons we are in, it is easy to get carried away to make decisions and do things that will get faster results. But I pray that we will continue to soak ourselves in the word, pray more and submit our situations to you alone. May we learn the importance of contentment and apply it in our lives and be patient for what you have for us all. In your precious name I pray. Amen. Halleluyah

Let’s look at what the word contentment means- It means the state of satisfaction mentally or emotionally to be at ease in one’s situation, body and mind. To accept one’s situation and to have peace within.

To be content is not always easy, you may be in a job you dislike, studying a subject you no longer have interest in, in the process of moving but it seems to be taking forever, in a tough season and it feels as though you are not coming out of it, but going through trying times again and again. To be content is to be at ease and in peace within that despite the above and any other uncomfortable situation you may be facing that the best is indeed yet to come. You will overcome, no condition is permanent and the same way a problem has a beginning has an end too.

We must be able to look beyond our circumstances with faith in God that, though it may be painful it is not your final destination, it shall and will come to an end. Seasons come and go, pain comes and you receive your healing, this walk though uncomfortable will stretch you so much so that you will learn to trust in God and take your eyes of the circumstance and focus on Him. Because when you do that you show that despite what you see before you, you will learn to wait on God and let His will be done and that does not include rushing the process. But rather enabling you to learn the art of endurance, patience and faith.

Learn to be satisfied with what you have and make no mistake to look at what others have and wish you wanted it too, because you do not know what they did to get there, everyone has a story to tell and individual unique paths to follow, the moment you fall into that trap is the moment you tell God ‘I am not content with what I have or how you made me, I want better and deserve better than I have.’ Don’t let it get to that stage. God has done so much for us all and knows the end from the beginning. That is not to say every blessed day will be easy and without tests, but it is to say that we have Him leading us and will never be led astray, He knows what we need and when we need it so be patient.

1 Timothy 6:6-8 ‘But Godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.’

I just love Timothy and how he breaks things down for us to understand and apply to our own lives, he makes very powerful points here, the things you are not content with, lets say material things for example, they will all come and go. Temporary things do not last and are not worth us losing ourselves over. The world is living the life of chasing the fast life, cars, houses etc that the real essence of life is missed and overlooked. What you chase you cannot take out of this world and what you desire from another is not what God would want you to have, so set your desires on the things above as it says in Colossians 3.

2 Corinthians 12:10 ‘For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’

Notice it says here FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST, not for the sake of man, or for the sake of you, your friends or family but for Christ alone. It should give you assurance that in Christ we have all we need and there is no one in this world who can give us what we NEED.

Anyone can give you what you want to some extent, but wants doesn’t mean its what you need not all that you want God will give, because He knows what we need and all our wants aren’t good for us, so we must trust in Him to provide what will help us not hinder us. Christ loved us enough to die for each and every one of us, so we too can be content even in the trying times that we will never be led astray or left alone. When we remind ourselves of His promises we can be rest assured that He will keep to His word and that worry will no longer dwell in us all. Because we learn the beauty of being content as we go on, for the opposite of content is worry, so when we worry we are withdrawing our trust from God and placing it in ourselves and the natural realm, as opposed to being content and being stronger spiritually to trust and connect to God despite what circumstances show.

Hebrews 13:5 ‘Keep your life free from love of money and be content with what you have, for he has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ When you know who God is and trust in His promises, it makes it easier to be content and take each day as it comes, with the assurance of His word that He will never forsake us. So do not be discouraged by what your season is showing, trust in Him and His timing and know that He has predestined your steps well before you took those steps, so make it a prayer point to ask for guidance and direction and He will surely lead your path. With this be content also with your calling and gifts God has placed in you, He has empowered and called you to do only what you can do, so be content in this and give your best.

Hey lovelies,

Let us pray,

Father thank you for everything that you have done for us, thank you for the times you never gave up on us even when we gave up on ourselves, I pray that moving forward you will equip us to be strong willed, wise and bold to do what you say in obedience despite what others may say. It is very easy to want to do what seems easier in that moment in time, but I pray that your assurance to us all and your word will work in our lives.

So, that we are not led astray by the hearsay and people pleasing. Because in all we do we must remember that we are doing it to bring glory to your name and not for man, forgive us Father when we have put things and people before you. In your precious name, I pray. Halleluyah.

COLOSSIANS 3:23 ‘and whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.’

HEARTILY is to do things with the heart, to put your all into something that enables you to give commitment to that task or person. It says in Colossians 3:23 WHATEVER you do, that is any action, to do it heartily, but not to stop there, to do it heartily as to the Lord, not man, not woman, your friends, family whoever it may be. It says to do things heartily unto the Lord. Whatever you do unto God let it be given with all your might, do your part and do not slack because you think God will do it all, or that He can and so you can relax.

No it doesn’t work like that hence why the word says to focus on things in a heartily way, because at times we can be known to relax and do things half-heartedly just so we can say it has been done, but that is still on the same level as laziness, because either way the outcome will not be close to the ability in you to achieve greater and then it becomes a norm to do things anyhow and just scrap along the way, when really you were born to achieve and do much more in life. God expects you to give your best and nothing less, so why have the mentality to think that giving half is better than giving your all and achieving the best?

It is important to acknowledge the fact that in all things we do we must give our best and be patient and trusting in God to know that He will provide and will bless you at the right time, not on your terms but His, so don’t slack because you may not see the results there and then. It doesn’t mean it is not going to happen, it is testing your character and trust in God to faith it through the good as well as bad and times of waiting.

Because it is easy to think we are ready to receive something based on things we do, but God sees beyond that looks to the heart and our intentions so if He knows you are not ready there would be no point trying to think you can change that. The times you think you are ready to receive, are the same times God may be saving you from what you could mess up. Due to lack of understanding and wisdom to apply it.

to steward over it well. He doesn’t withhold to punish He withholds you to lead you to a place of maturity in Christ to be able to handle what He gives you.

When you know the character of God and the importance of times and seasons, it will take a lot of load off you and what if’s off you too. But the moment you walk in assumptions and base it on what you see, you will always struggle and do the opposite to what God expects of you. We are to walk with God leading us, not us walking and leading God. His power and character is enough to change any impossibility to a possibility but it’s not based on your influence to try and make God change to please and suit your needs.

I know I have done this in the past, thinking if I do things in a certain way or say things in a certain way it will cause God to bless me, but not only was I naive and immature but did myself great disservice when I placed all these high expectations and demands on myself to live by and that was hard on me and drained me.  Because I did not know in the early stages the importance of holding onto God and trusting in Him in all things and that He has predestined our steps. So nothing we do now will cause us to say we did it and on our own might, GOD DID THAT NOT US.

He uses us as His vessels and know what we can handle as well as what we can’t. Don’t force it when you should be praying for peace, don’t copy when you are called to be an original. Be you – be authentic – be wise in your ways and let God lead you to greater, but He doesn’t need your help to bless you, He’s got you. The question is do you trust in Him, despite what you see? His grace is sufficient for us all, but not because we do things in a certain way. It is not by our might but His grace alone – His unmerited favour. 2 Corinthians 12:9 ‘But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. (We can’t and won’t be strong all the time that’s why we need God to pour into us, strengthen and guide us) Therefore I will boast more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.’

James 4:6 says ‘But He gives more grace, therefore it says, God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’

God states clearly that He opposes the proud, and gives more grace the humble, you cannot get through life boasting and prideful, for God opposes that, remain humble in all your ways and know that no matter how tough it gets show love walk in humility and be expectant and prayerful. You don’t have all the answers, you can’t do it all, you will need help and you are imperfect serving a perfect God, so don’t try to run before you walk and realise that God makes all things beautiful in His own time.

Let God strengthen your character to purge you of what does not bear forth fruit and to refine you in a way that is pleasing and fruitful. God has given us all a purpose to fulfil but you cannot do it in the fleshly ways of living, or believing you can do it all alone you will forever stumble. But when you remain hopeful and positive you allow Him to mould you to be greater and achieve more as you work wholeheartedly in all He asks you to do. Have an attitude to please God and not to please people – Galatians 1:10 ‘For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.’

Cut out on complaining, comparing, envying and putting yourself down when things don’t go your way, trust in God, soak yourself in the word and prayer and believe that ‘for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.’ Romans 8:28 treat all things with God at the centre of it all He’s got you.
