CHILD LIKE FAITH

Dear Father,

Thank you for your love, strength, wisdom, healing, direction and comfort in our lives, it truly is a blessing to have you as our Father, no matter how difficult it gets may we always believe and know that in you we will always have our rest, direction and guidance. No matter what is thrown our way may we continue to look to you alone in everything. So help us Father in our name we pray. Amen.

I was driving recently and got stuck in traffic so as a distraction I looked around and observed some children playing in the park on the swings, with their parents pushing them, their little legs swinging and their faces innocent and sweet just having fun enjoying what they found fun, to be pushed on the swings in the park. Then it dropped in my spirit the reminder for us to have child-like faith.

So in a nutshell what is faith? –

We can see that in Hebrews 11:1 it states the importance of faith, ‘Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.’ To be sure of what we trust and believe God for, to come to pass in what we do not yet see, in what has not yet manifested from the spiritual to the natural realm. Our faith is the substance of our Christian lives, it is so crucial to have and as it speaks of in Romans 12:3 that we all have been given a measure of faith from God.

So it is important to continually to feed our faith daily with His word, prayer and intimacy with God. We cannot go through life with no faith and say we trust God, when the foundation is to have trust faith and believe that God is able, and that we know Him not just for what He gives but for who He is. Never allow the worries of the world, fear, anger, discouragement or comparison etc shake your faith to make you feel you aren’t enough or God can’t do wonders in your life.

KEY POINTERS –

Faith must be fed and worked on daily

It is the true substance of our walk in Christ

Fill it up daily and neglect the negative thoughts that come in to shake your faith.

Put God first in all things and you will never be last

No other thing is more important than our faith in God- Do you have faith?

Very simply, we need faith to please God, even though we cannot see Him and as it says in Hebrews 11:6 we are reminded that “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.”

God blesses those who keep His commandments, are faithful, obedient and love Him wholeheartedly.

Faith is what sustains us in life, and reminds us that we will have eternal life in heaven with God.

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls” (1 Peter 1:8-9)

I love this – ‘The dictionary defines faith as “belief in, devotion to, or trust in somebody or something, especially without logical proof.” It also defines faith as “belief in and devotion to God.” It is so important that, without faith, we have no place with God, and it is impossible to please Him. According to the Bible, faith is belief in the one, true God without actually seeing Him.

Yeshua expects of us to seek Him in a way that possess a childlike modesty in addition to the faith we have in Him. To take the lowest position in our walk in Christ shows humility and in God’s eyes is taken seriously, it shows that you are reliant on God and willing to learn and moreover willing to be taught the right way in life. “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up” (James 4:10).

Take God’s truth as your truth and apply it in your everyday living.

As children trust their earthly fathers to care for them and look after them, we should also trust that our heavenly Father will give good gifts to those who ask him.

Ephesians 2:8-9 states that faith is a gift from God, not at all because we deserve it, or have even earned it. Not from us we give the faith, but from God who gives us the measure of faith, we must daily work on. Faith is not from our free will or free giving.

God gives and makes it possible for us to have this faith and the moment you feel it is being shaken because of circumstances, pray and let God intervene to renew your mind and strength and let your faith be fed with His truth and not your tainted perception of what you feel to be true. The same way we have faith given to us, is the same way we have His grace and mercy given to us too. We don’t deserve it but yet again our loving, faithful, giving Father gives and loves us more than we can ever imagine. He has a beautiful plan and purpose, for each one of us and so in all things big and small, He alone deserves all the glory and all the honour.

I like to say faith is like having petrol in our cars, we know that for our cars to take us from A to B we need to have petrol in it to do so and the moment there isn’t enough, the journey becomes tiring and longer and the car stops. You are annoyed and frustrated and now delayed in your movements because your car isnt functioning well.

But had you filled the tank in the first place, you wouldn’t have gone through all the stress and annoyance, you would have been in a peaceful state of mind, on top of everything, on time and effective and productive. Liking it to faith and the exact same point made, the moment we do things ourselves and feel we know better is the moment the frustration, anger, weariness and impatience kicks in and the importance of faith is out of the window. What should have taken a little while to accomplish, now takes months and years, just because of your inability to see the truth and walk in faith.

The analogy I took away from the children playing – For the child to get the benefit of the swings they needed to rely on their carers or parents to push them on the swing to feel the effect of the swing and have their fun. If they weren’t pushed they couldn’t move forward and would therefore be stagnant on the swing. The responsibility of the parent is to push the child at a suitable pace, to ensure their child’s safety and be alert of their surroundings as well as pushing them on the swing.

Though the parent wants the child to enjoy, they also have the responsibility to protect them from harm to not push them too hard. So that they don’t hurt themselves, their thoughts for the child is for the child to enjoy their time on the swing under their guidance and care… Now use this and put God and yourself in this analogy, you are on the swing and God is pushing you and protecting you as you go along, you are totally dependent on God and under His guidance and safety you are covered and He will excel you at His pace not yours. Working on your faith, patience, love and trust in God daily will help in building your intimacy with Him. The same way a child depends on their earthly parent in everything, is the same way we too must be dependent on our Heavenly Father in life.

Notice it says childlike faith and not adult like faith, let us not bring age into this and look at this thinking we must only have faith when a child in X years on this earth, whether a child in age or adult in age. Childlike faith portrays the fact that no matter the age, we must come to God as children come to a parent to trust and rely on Him to guide us. Provide for us, strengthen us, develop us and use us for His glory. Faith shows that no matter what happens in life you can trust in God and that sets you apart from people in the world. Who rely on themselves to get through in life, notice that we put our faith in God and die to self to be more like Him, but doesn’t exempt the fact that there will be trials in our lives. But because of your faith you trust in the truth that it may not be happening at that point in time, but it will manifest in the natural at God’s own appointed time.

Matthew 18:2-5 Jesus says that we must “become as little children” to enter the kingdom of God. ‘Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me’

TWO KEY EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO HAD STRONG FAITH IN GOD-

-       Abraham left his home and obeyed God’s command to go He didn’t know where, then willingly offered up his only son.

-       Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL

PHILIPPIANS 4:11

Let us pray

Dear Father,

Thank you for everything that you have done for us, thank you for seeing us through all the obstacles, thank you for providing us with what we need, thank you for healing, strength, wisdom, and always providing provision, making ways where there seems to be no way. May we continue to trust in your timing, to be patient in all we do and let the word of God alone be our source and truth in every step that we make. So, help us Father to not get distracted by things we see, what people say or pressure. Help us God in all that we do, in your precious mighty name I pray. Halleluyah.

Welcome to 2017, we thank God, we have entered a new year, I am thankful that I am alive, thankful for being able to do God’s work, for my healing process, having peace, wisdom, growth, learning so much, have amazing people around me, more opportunities on the way and more. Doing what I love, all by His grace, so I ask you what are you thankful for?

I ask that because a lot of us, myself included tend to look at our circumstances and what we do not have, as opposed to looking at the positives and what God has blessed us to have. God will always give us what we need not what we think we need it. We need to align our minds to the word of God and focus on Him alone to see us through in our daily living. Romans 12:2 comes to mind “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

The world will have their view of what we need and how to be famous, how to live the fast life etc, but we are not of the world and how they live, we don’t have their same views, lifestyles and thoughts. It is important for us to position ourselves to what God is saying and not the world and flesh. So, what has your yes and focus? What do you spend more time doing? Think about it and let God reveal to you areas you need to work on and be made aware of.

PHIL 4:10-20 - GOD’S PROVISION...

Let us look at what the word CONTENT means- “To do with being pleased and satisfied (feeling content) or making someone else feel happy and at peace with things (contenting them). “

To be content is to be accepting of your current situation and what you have, to be assured that no condition is permanent and you are an overcomer to do and be great in life, despite what comes your way. It is to be sure of yourself in Christ and whose you are knowing that God alone can and will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory. Phil 4:19 If the word says God will supply ALL, why do we worry and become anxious when we do not have things, or situations aren’t going our way? It does not make sense to say we trust in God but the moment something happens we doubt and try to get things and change things ourselves? Easier said than done but we must remember to position ourselves to do and be greater in our ways, selfless, and dependant on God alone.

As we have entered the new year there will be those who will want new things, a new job, a partner, a promotion, material things etc you name it. But my question to you is that though there is nothing wrong with wanting things, we are human and have desires. But what is your intention behind wanting those things? Check your heart and actions when you want things and let God do a work in you. He knows what you need and He knows the right time in your life for you to have it. Don’t get drawn into the wants and needs lifestyle, that you turn God into a genie going to Him just for things you think you need and not building on a good relationship with Him. Know your ways and do self-checks to avoid getting distracted by things and people.

Let us break down some of the parts of Phil 4: 10-19

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

-When you focus on God and give Him thanks He will supply all your needs

-Bring destiny helpers to help support you and in all your ways will always be many steps head guiding you. Let your faith not be shaken based on what your natural eyes show you, be encouraged to know that God is always working things out for your good, and it will manifest in the natural in His timing. ‘Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.’

- When you need, things don’t go to people first, express your needs and concerns to God and He will bless you, involving using people. But it is not with their permission you must seek, but His will to be done in your life. He will open new doors and exceed your expectations.

-God knows your needs before you even voice them to Him so be rest assured you are on His mind and He has not forgotten about you or neglected you. He is the author of our lives, and so it is right to go back to Him when in need of help and guidance for our lives.

- In all circumstances are you able to go through them with a positive attitude? Paul is a perfect example of going through circumstances being content with what he had and what he faced. The powerful thing to know is that we can draw strength from our Father in heaven to help see us through. Rely on God’s promises and His power to be your focus as you go through life don’t let what you don’t have keep you in bondage of negativity and hopelessness. He will always supply our needs in a way that is best for us.

12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

-       I just love Paul, he really was an example of what it means to be totally surrendered to God in the good and bad, he could see life from God’s point of view, he focused on what God expected of Him to do, not feeding into desires of what he felt he needed. Take away an important lesson from Paul, he did not set his sights on the temporary things but rather on the eternal, all things are temporary, so when you set your sights on things, you set yourself up for failure. Because it will become a vicious cycle of always wanting and never being satisfied. Is that life? Any voids go to God and He will fill those voids in your life not man or things. Where are your priorities in life and what or who is your focus?

-       We are able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us, when we draw from Him the strength we need, to live a Godly blessed life. As we contend for our faith in God, there will be many trials and tribulations we face, pressures, setbacks and more but as they come against us we have the assurance of God’s strength in us.

LASTLY…..

19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

-       Isn’t this beautiful to know? We can trust in God to always meet our needs, we need to remember that whatever we need, He knows and will supply in due time have faith in Him, there are things we want, which He knows aren’t all good for us to have and so He always provides our needs. Over time you will begin to see that your attitudes and appetites can and will change from a place of wanting all that you think you need, to accepting His provision and power to live for Him and Him alone.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL

HELP... I AM STRESSED!!!

Hey lovelies,

Let us pray.

Dear Father

Thank you again for what you are doing in our lives, your word which never returns void, your word that heals, your word is life, your word is encouraging, your word equips us, your word brings wisdom, instruction, faith and the ability to be great in all that we do. Father sickness, stress, depression and whatever that is not meant to be in the body of Christ has no way to enter and stay in your children, we decree and declare that anything and anyone who is causing this will be cast down and you will rise up in those situations to strengthen us and elevate us.. May we all continue to focus on you alone to have that intimate relationship with you, not just because of what you bless us with but because of who you are.

In you precious name we pray halleluyah

HELP… I AM STRESSED..

Many times we like to do things and then complain we are stressed or that it was too much to handle. First and foremost it is important to understand that there are DOERS in the kingdom and DOERS of self. A doer in the kingdom prays and puts God first in all they do knowing that in order to succeed in that task they must be equipped to handle what comes with that task, that is to say that when mistakes are made you understand and you keep on going, when people question what you are doing you keep on going (when God instructs you to do something please understand that it shouldn’t be negotiated for when you think the time is right) For Him to instruct you above anyone else, is to say that He believes and knows that you can do it and His name will be glorified, He trusts in you to do it and He knows that you will do your best not doubt the process and allow Him to take full control.

When you are selfless and doing the will of God you are a powerful tool in the kingdom. Yes He calls you to do it, but where there is lifting there are attacks and those attacks come in the form of distractions, sickness, negative people you name it. BUT He says in Philippians 4:13 YOU yes YOU can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. So you aren’t alone when you do things He is there every minute, every hour, every second, every day of the week isn't that amazing? He is full time with us even when we doubt, even when we fear stepping out, even when we say no, even when we sin. He is our forgiving, loving Father. We are not perfect and His grace is sufficient for us all and His mercy is new every morning. Repent daily – pray for the renewal of the spirit- pray for the renewal of the mind – pray for protection and more wisdom and be on your way. HE GOT YOU AND FAILURE IS NOT YOUR PORTION.

Stress – a state of mental or emotional strain on oneself with demanding circumstances around them, they cannot handle. Ladies and gents God did not call you to be stressed, fearful, worried, filled with anxiety and hopelessness. When He created you it says in Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I sanctified you, I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

Do you know how powerful this is? This is to say that God knew you, long before you were even conceived, He knew you way before that and had a plan for you. He saw you as His valuable treasure and had a great purpose in mind for YOU. So why let things like negativity, stress and change in circumstances get you down? When God is saying you are way above all that and more. You have to get to a place where you know who you are in Christ, your worth and what you can do and what you need to say NO to. It is not that you are rude or selfish but it is that you know He is taking you somewhere and so your time is precious and not everything and everyone deserves your time. Not all of them can go to where you are going to.

I learnt this the hard way- People knowing and seeing that I was in ministry assumed that my life was perfect and I had no problems and life was just blessing upon blessing. God has blessed me and did back then BUT that is not to say I didn’t have attacks, that is not to say the devil didn’t try to attack my family, that is not to say I didn’t lose things. So the pedestal I was placed on was too high and I took on others problems, and favours they asked me to do on top of what I was facing and over time depriving myself of much needed time in His presence. Time for me and time to do other things which needed to be done all because I couldn’t say no, I can’t do it. Which led to my first big breakdown  – I felt drained, very weak, sick and sinking close to wanting to stop all together- I had made up my mind that ministry wasn’t for me and I could no longer go on.

But you see that was my fault, when God called me, He didn’t say accept to do all things from others, He didn’t say to act the way I did – sinking close to people pleasing. So I went on the break for a few months because I needed to be rebuilt, strengthened and taught the error of my ways. We are all built to do different things, with different gifts and different people to reach out to. But we cant do it all alone, hence why it says in Ephesians 4:11-13 “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

This is to say that the kingdom as a whole, we ALL have work to do a responsibility to heal, nurture, give, build, fulfil command, and more in the body together as one. Because all the work God commands to be done cannot be done by just one of us but all of us, without division. So when we have this in mind there is nothing like wasting time on the wrong things, wrong people, wrong tasks causing stress and all sorts.

What I do now is I make a to do list of things I need to get done weekly/daily and work through those things to keep me in check and if I know there are things I cannot do, I do not commit to them because my time is precious, I cant do it all, I need time in His presence too. So I am able to discern what I need to dismiss and what I need to take on. That way you have peace, no stress, on top of everything and more importantly self-discipline and able to hear God clearly and for my spiritual eyes to stay open.

Going back to my wilderness break He let me know what it is I shouldn’t have done and what I needed to do more of, let me tell you as much as I love being in ministry, it can get very much at times for the fact that there are people who continually come to just take take take and then come again and again in this vicious cycle *transparent moment*. This may seem harsh but you see you have to understand that we are just vessels God is using, we are all vessels and we are not here for others to put us in the position of God EVER. So at times I will pray with you encourage you and redirect you back to God and ask that you pray over all we have done for Him to show forth and direct your path. So that is where the no’s started to come in because there were others who just wanted to take advantage, we have to be careful that we do not loose ourselves all in the name of helping others and not being able to say no.

Do you know that is damaging to the soul alone, if for every person who came to you asking for something you said yes yes yes yes and then after was left so drained, empty and weak. Do not take on what you cannot handle and what will cause you to stress. Although I have learnt to say no it is still hard at times but gets better, because I refuse to go back to that dark space where I was so low and weak because of taking on others issues and burdens which should not be the case. God broke me down to the core and rebuilt me in my time of need, weak fed up state and gave me beauty for ashes to make a comeback to learn and change my ways.

The breaking process will be painful but in order to grow and build as a child of the Most High you will need that. I am glad I was afflicted and battered because from that I now see who I am in Christ, I know my daddy and how faithful, loving and powerful He is and so long as we remain obedient to Him He will never forsake us.

SO SOME TIPS I APPLY TO MY LIFE, I WOULD LIKE YOU ALL TO TAKE AWAY AND REFLECT ON:

  • BEFORE YOU PLAN TO TAKE ON ANYTHING CONSULT GOD ABOUT IT
  • PRAY AND PLAN BEFORE DIVING IN
  • MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TIME TO COMMIT TO IT/ THEM
  • LEARN THAT IT IS OKAY TO SAY NO IF YOU CANT DO SOMETHING
  • BE PATIENT THINGS DON’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT
  • ALWAYS ASSESS WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND IF IT WILL BRING TWO THINGS- GROWTH IN THE KINGDOM AND GROWTH IN YOU OR ARE YOU JUST DOING IT FOR THE SAKE OF SAYING YOU DID IT
  • MAKE A TO DO LIST DAILY/ WEEKLY THAT WAY YOU ARE DISCIPLINED AND ON TOP OF ALL YOU ARE DOING
  • TAKE TIME OUT – RELAX, SPEND TIME IN HIS PRESENCE
  • READ THE WORD AND MEDITATE ON IT
  •

 GOD BLESS YOU ALL

EPHESIANS 3 & EPHESIANS 4

MY LESSONS FROM BOTH CHAPTERS

Dear Father

Thank you Father for all that you have done for us, thank you for the word that helps us grow, encourages us, speaks life into our circumstances and gives direction to us all. Halleluyah

Reading Ephesians 3 and Ephesians 4 really touched me in various ways. I have chosen some of the verses from both to discuss.

‘I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with long suffering, forbearing one another in love’

The Most High has chosen us all to be representatives of Himself here on earth, so it is our role to live a well fulfilled life in accordance to our calling- we are His own and so ought to set a good example to others.

To have the qualities of being humble, courageous, bold, wise, gentle, peaceful and patient, it is important to remember that wherever we go people are watching us and so it is important to be a positive image for others to learn from not just that but to be who God has called us to be to fulfil our purposes in life. We are all one, united with the body and in our daily walks with Him we should learn to live with one another, with no division. One body, one spirit, one future, one faith all in one. We must learn to support and complement one another rather than turn against one another.

We all have faults and no one is perfect, but despite that we must be gentle, patient and supportive to others. What you feel is not right in others, do not bring them down by putting out their weaknesses, rather pray for them and let The Most High work on them.

3 ‘endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling’

God leads us all and it is up to us to follow His lead to be willing to do our part and keep up with the peace and unity in life. We are to be selfless and so we must focus on God and not ourselves first.

11 ‘And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers. 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ..’

We may be one in Christ, but still have our individualities, we are all spirit filled and have special gifts to help build us up. It is not enough to just know your calling and your special gifts, but you are then expected to use them, the word of God, wisdom and prayer will see you through and where the opportunities to serve are.

Always ask when unsure about anything and God will help you, you aren’t supposed to figure everything out yourself, what would be the point of having God in our lives if we knew everything and could do it all ourselves?

Once you are strengthened you will be encouraged to serve.

As The Most High’s children we have a responsibility to preach the word, pray for others, heal, nurture, build and do many things in and out of the kingdom. But it wouldn’t be possible without The Most High’s intervention, because by our own might we will not succeed. What some of us can do, is not what others can do, but together we can all unite to use our gifts for the common purpose of serving The Most High with obedience.

16 ‘From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.’

We must all be committed to the truth and not the ways of the world. So in all our ways it is important that we reflect the word of God, let the word of God be our reflection, not the things of the world. We are to be honest and wise in our ways, although the truth can be hard to express, we must still gracefully do it knowing that God will see us through.

We are not perfect and will make mistakes but it is important to not let our mistakes drag us down, we grow learning from mistakes and how to better ourselves daily. We all have a purpose and love for God, but we will all fall, but then we can get back up again and in all things keep pressing on. When you see someone is struggling help them up don’t watch people struggle and do nothing, we are all meant to help each other in all we do, we are relational beings and showing love and humility is key

NEW CREATION

24 ‘And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.’

You are not perfect, but when you come into the kingdom it is crucial that people are able to see a difference between you and non-believers. How we live is not how those in the world live, so set a good example as a believer for others to see. We are full of light and the non-believers are full of darkness, we are not the same and so shouldn’t reflect what they reflect.

We are to leave our old selves of sinful ways behind; it is a process to move from the old ways to the new ways in the kingdom. We may be new creatures in the kingdom but that is not where it stops, we need to renew our minds and thought processes daily, and fight the ways of the flesh. How we think leads to our actions, so to express ourselves we need to be cleansed of negative thoughts and negative attitudes. This is where listening to The Most High comes into practice to hear Him and be led by what we are instructed to do.

CONTROLLING OUR EMOTIONS/ HOW WE ACT:

26 ‘Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath. 27 Neither give place to the devil.’

We are human, again we are not perfect and will make mistakes. We will feel angry at times and it is how we handle that anger that matters, how we treat others, what words we use etc. In the world we would have reacted, but in the kingdom we must pray and release the anger to not let it consume us. Do not hold it inside always let it out, as Paul says we should deal with our anger immediately to avoid destroying relationships around us. The devil loves it when we let our anger consume us because when someone is angry they do not handle it well and fall of track, led by emotions pushing them to react in a way God wouldn’t want us to act in.

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.’

Paul warns against the use of foul language, wrath, evil speaking, bad attitudes, harsh words etc. But rather than act that way he asks that we should have a forgiving nature and put aside ways that will bring more negativity as opposed to positivity. We are to please God with our actions as well as our attitudes, so act in a loving way towards others and learn as you go along how to overcome negativity.

30 ‘And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.’

We belong to God, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, we are His and He loves us so much to teach us right from wrong along the way, help us when we fall, strengthen us and love us unconditionally.

The Bible gives us direction and shows us what happens when we do not follow God’s lead. Always pray and ask for wisdom and understanding before you read the Bible and He will reveal a lot of things to you.

Bless you all

Halleluyah

BOUNDARIES

Dear Father,

Thank you, for all that you are doing in our lives, for us being alive, being called yours, learning and growing but above all walking in purpose to serve. For those who don’t know their purpose I pray that they shall draw closer to you to receive the in pour and direction needed to walk in purpose and build on intimacy with you. So, help us Father in our walks, we pray and believe that each thing that happens is for a reason and that our trust and faith in you shall not be shaken despite what is shown in the natural.

BOUNDARIES, a word that has been on my heart for some time and studying it in training caused me to delve deeper to look at its importance as well as my own personal boundaries.

Boundaries can be defined as a line which marks the limits of an area, a dividing line. To have protection over what you don’t want tampered with or yourself to keep out negative people and thoughts that will cause a negative effect on you.

Now linking to interpersonal relationships with others it gives us the peace of mind we need when we can take control of what we want around us, as well as in our personal space. We are all unique, with different identities, feelings, morals and responsibilities necessary to function day to day. Healthy boundaries I believe we must all have, as well as respecting the personal boundaries others have as well. You can’t expect to have boundaries set in place but then not respect other people’s boundaries, that is unfair and double standards living.

Boundaries when you think about it relates to self and self- control in how we can control what comes near us, to control our desires, as well as being able to set in place what needs to be worked on and what doesn’t bring forth growth. Not everything or everyone is healthy for you and so to make sure we are secure and sane as well as at peace, we must make sure that we look after ourselves well, not just physically, emotionally and spiritually too above all.

What is not worked on that doesn’t bear forth fruit, can damage your spirit and way of doing things, I say this because you then become comfortable in being complacent to things you feel can’t be changed but should just be coped with and that is not the right mindset to have at all.

Bearing in mind there are those people who do not have boundaries and get carried away thinking that, just because they do not have boundaries must mean others don’t too. If you are not careful and you are weak mentally and spiritually, you will be controlled by their selfish tactics and not only is this very unhealthy but draining to you and does no good in helping you become who God wants you to become. Rather you’re a puppet on strings manipulated by the actions of others, who at times may not always know better or be aware of what they are doing.

You are free in Christ, a new creation in Him so do not allow yourself to be caged by the actions of others, who may or may not always agree with what you do and believe is best for YOU. ‘You have your personal space and either they respect your boundaries or stay away’ it is that simple because you can’t let just anyone close and you can’t entertain everything others entertain too. Protect your eye gates to let what enters your spirit help in your growth and relationship with God.

Boundaries set need to be boundaries that will help you with good motives to have that boundary in place. For example, one of your boundaries might be ‘I will guard my heart from those who don’t have any boundaries set in their own lives and not let just anyone close to me.’ Your personal space is yours to use as you wish and with that though not everyone will understand, at least you do and stand by it to protect yourself.

There can be boundaries that are sinful that cause you to be selfish to set people far away from you simply because you just don’t like them from ‘judgement’. Or because you just want to hurt them, you punish them by excluding them from things you and others plan. In the kingdom community if your boundaries are group related to keep people out, then check your heart and motives because not only is that unhealthy it can affect those who don’t feel loved, supported or valued.

In my training, we were discussing why the need of boundaries is important not only in this field but in all areas of our lives. As a believer who does many different things I have boundaries in place, firstly in my spiritual walk, to let the worldly influences and people I once knew as worldly friends stay away. Because no matter how strong you are, you are not perfect and can fall. So do not put yourself in situations where you can fall and then blame it on others, you should know better (said with love J) A good scripture to use with this is 2 Corinthians 6:14 ‘Children of the light have no fellowship with darkness and are separate from the world.’ So with the word saying this why would you allow yourself to be open to just anyone and anything that can cause darkness to creep in?

Yes, it is good to exude love, kindness, and support to others, we are believers, God is love and we must be examples of His love here on earth. BUT that is not to say that we must let our guard down to have the worldly type of living and character and then say we are His, we are either in darkness or light not in between because we are then lukewarm. Be wise in your boundary setting and use wisdom for how you apply it.

  • Take responsibility
  • Know that healthy boundaries links in with healthy self- control.
  • God has given you and I freedom, but if you live outside of it there will be consequences, be wise in your actions. Romans 6:23 ‘For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’
  • Boundaries are key to healthy living spiritually and peace of mind, and limit negative thoughts as well as negative people. Not to say they won’t come in numbers, but you will know how to deal with them.
  • Boundaries help you not to sin, maintain respect and walk in accordance to the word of God and not man.
  • Check your heart and motives when you set boundaries, are they pure and of good intentions?
  • Boundaries keep you safe and alert for what is going on and how to best avoid what can bring harm, for protection as well as peace as well.
  • Knowing when to say yes as well as when to say no, not overstretching yourself, because when you do that it will be you to handle the consequences not those who you kept saying yes to. You feel it more and being in these situations can be very draining.

  • Accept that others have boundaries, even if you don’t agree with all of them. But don’t make people feel as though they owe you anything and that their boundaries aren’t good enough. It is not your place to say that.
  • We have a right to have boundaries, with the freedom to grow and do what is right for us.
  • Self-control is a fruit of the spirit for believers, Galatians 5:22-23 but is not something unbelievers in the dark can live by, they are controlled by sin and lost in their ways. The importance of setting our boundaries is also saying that we are taking responsibilities for our own actions, which in turn leads to us making the right decisions in our lives. We are not being selfish but we are saying that we need to control ourselves and what we allow close.
  • 1 Corinthians 15:33 ‘Do not be deceived and misled, evil companionship corrupts and depraves good manners and morals and character.’ Don’t allow yourself to be used and abused.

REMEMBER BOUNDARIES ARE SET IN PLACE TO PROTECT YOUR SPACE AND EVEN THOUGH NOT EVERYONE WILL RESPECT THEM DOESN’T MEAN THEY ARE WRONG.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL
