Hey lovelies, let us pray…

Dear Father,

Thank you for all that you have done for us, thank you for blessing us and providing provisions for us. I ask that you help us to be content with what we have, who we are and the seasons we are in, it is easy to get carried away to make decisions and do things that will get faster results. But I pray that we will continue to soak ourselves in the word, pray more and submit our situations to you alone. May we learn the importance of contentment and apply it in our lives and be patient for what you have for us all. In your precious name I pray. Amen. Halleluyah

Let’s look at what the word contentment means- It means the state of satisfaction mentally or emotionally to be at ease in one’s situation, body and mind. To accept one’s situation and to have peace within.

To be content is not always easy, you may be in a job you dislike, studying a subject you no longer have interest in, in the process of moving but it seems to be taking forever, in a tough season and it feels as though you are not coming out of it, but going through trying times again and again. To be content is to be at ease and in peace within that despite the above and any other uncomfortable situation you may be facing that the best is indeed yet to come. You will overcome, no condition is permanent and the same way a problem has a beginning has an end too.

We must be able to look beyond our circumstances with faith in God that, though it may be painful it is not your final destination, it shall and will come to an end. Seasons come and go, pain comes and you receive your healing, this walk though uncomfortable will stretch you so much so that you will learn to trust in God and take your eyes of the circumstance and focus on Him. Because when you do that you show that despite what you see before you, you will learn to wait on God and let His will be done and that does not include rushing the process. But rather enabling you to learn the art of endurance, patience and faith.

Learn to be satisfied with what you have and make no mistake to look at what others have and wish you wanted it too, because you do not know what they did to get there, everyone has a story to tell and individual unique paths to follow, the moment you fall into that trap is the moment you tell God ‘I am not content with what I have or how you made me, I want better and deserve better than I have.’ Don’t let it get to that stage. God has done so much for us all and knows the end from the beginning. That is not to say every blessed day will be easy and without tests, but it is to say that we have Him leading us and will never be led astray, He knows what we need and when we need it so be patient.

1 Timothy 6:6-8 ‘But Godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.’

I just love Timothy and how he breaks things down for us to understand and apply to our own lives, he makes very powerful points here, the things you are not content with, lets say material things for example, they will all come and go. Temporary things do not last and are not worth us losing ourselves over. The world is living the life of chasing the fast life, cars, houses etc that the real essence of life is missed and overlooked. What you chase you cannot take out of this world and what you desire from another is not what God would want you to have, so set your desires on the things above as it says in Colossians 3.

2 Corinthians 12:10 ‘For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.’

Notice it says here FOR THE SAKE OF CHRIST, not for the sake of man, or for the sake of you, your friends or family but for Christ alone. It should give you assurance that in Christ we have all we need and there is no one in this world who can give us what we NEED.

Anyone can give you what you want to some extent, but wants doesn’t mean its what you need not all that you want God will give, because He knows what we need and all our wants aren’t good for us, so we must trust in Him to provide what will help us not hinder us. Christ loved us enough to die for each and every one of us, so we too can be content even in the trying times that we will never be led astray or left alone. When we remind ourselves of His promises we can be rest assured that He will keep to His word and that worry will no longer dwell in us all. Because we learn the beauty of being content as we go on, for the opposite of content is worry, so when we worry we are withdrawing our trust from God and placing it in ourselves and the natural realm, as opposed to being content and being stronger spiritually to trust and connect to God despite what circumstances show.

Hebrews 13:5 ‘Keep your life free from love of money and be content with what you have, for he has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ When you know who God is and trust in His promises, it makes it easier to be content and take each day as it comes, with the assurance of His word that He will never forsake us. So do not be discouraged by what your season is showing, trust in Him and His timing and know that He has predestined your steps well before you took those steps, so make it a prayer point to ask for guidance and direction and He will surely lead your path. With this be content also with your calling and gifts God has placed in you, He has empowered and called you to do only what you can do, so be content in this and give your best.
