RUTH AND NAOMI)
The significance of Ruth in the Bible is of importance to us young women too. Her loyalty to Naomi, how her marriage to Boaz came about and how great Boaz treated her, all favour from good deeds that Ruth did ended up being a big blessing to her in the long run.
Ruth was a noble, humble woman, and with God no good deeds go unseen He sees all that we do. As young God fearing women it is up to us to go out there and be a reflection of Christ. When people see you amongst other women they should be able to see your light shining as a woman of God, different like no other.
COMMENTARY: Differentiate between the good men and the bad men.. SPIRIT OF DISCERNMENT..Because what it all comes down to is how they treat women. If u plan to have children and not living right, it’s better to make a u turn now and be the best u can be to train your children in future. The best way, to avoid them going through what u put others through. A MARRIAGE BUILT IN CHRIST AND NOT SINFUL WAYS WILL PRODUCE LOVELY CHILDREN AND BY HIS GRACE WE SHALL ALL DO A GREAT JOB FOR OUR CHILDREN. A GOD FEARING WOMAN IS A GOD GIVEN GIFT TO MAN.
Firstly I will talk through Ruth and Naomi’s actions, before talking about her and Boaz the man who would later marry her. Ladies wait on God for the right man to locate you, for your own special Boaz.
Ruth was such a noble, humble woman who devoted her time to her mother in law, even after losing her husband she could have easily decided to go her own way and remarry, stay with her family and move on with life. But she didn’t do that rather she stayed with Naomi her mother in law, left her family, homeland, her culture and moved to a foreign land with strangers, no one she knew besides Naomi who she was with. She wanted to devote her life to serve and worship her creator and still stay close to her mother in law, despite Naomi’s efforts telling her to go back to her family.
I really admire Ruth she had such a good, genuine heart and put others before herself and always did right, she was a true example of how a woman of God should be.
Let’s first examine areas of RUTH 1: (NAOMI AND RUTH’S CHARACTER)…
Elimelek, Naomi’s husband died, her two sons both died and was left without her two sons and husband. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth. After they had lived there about ten years, both Mahlon and Kilion also died, and Naomi was left without her two sons and her husband. Naomi must have been distraught it’s one thing to lose her husband but her two sons too that was just too much and had they not moved to that foreign land, all that may not have happened. But God knows why these things happen so who are we to question such. But in the end what first happened as a tragedy was later turned around for good. God is a master planner and knows what He is doing and why things happen the way they do..So have no fear, doubt or worry God is with us, we shall overcome all the obstacles that come our way in Jesus name. Amen
Keep the faith in the God, God can turn around a bad situation for the better. Naomi lost three men close to her, but was able to see better days ahead.
Naomi and Ruth Return to Bethlehem
When Naomi heard in Moab that the Lord had come to the aid of his people by providing food for them, she and her daughters-in-law prepared to return home from there. With her two daughters-in-law she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road that would take them back to the land of Judah.
Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back, each of you, to your mother’s home. May the Lord show you kindness, as you have shown kindness to your dead husbands and to me. 9 May the Lord grant that each of you will find resting the home of another husband.”Then she kissed them goodbye and they wept aloud 10 and said to her, “We will go back with you to your people.”Naomi’s act of courage here was touching. She had lost her family, and the two daughters in laws she had left, told them to go back to their own families. She would have been alone but not being selfish put the two women first and told them to go back, appreciative of all they had done for her. That was a lovely act on Naomi’s part, it showed me that as humans we can be caring and loving, when we feel something is right we will stand by it and see it through. Not everyone is selfish, but the ones who are simply pray over them and believe God will help them.
We are not God that we can change people, but we are His daughters and with prayer He hears us and helps us.
11 But Naomi said, “Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands? 12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me—even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons— 13 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the Lord’s hand has turned against me!” Here Naomi was adamant that Orpah and Ruth should return back home, she was thinking of their futures, but had already given up on hers, thinking that God had turned against her. This saddens me when people say ‘but God has turned His back on me so what’s the point in living’. A word of encouragement, yes it is God who created us, gave us life and wakes us up daily. A God of possibilities, a God of yes and not no (unless it’s to get better) a God of healing, love, hope, courage, blessings, growth and soo much more.
For God to wake us up each day that alone shows He cares and loves us and is taking us closer to our set times for breakthroughs. God doesn’t give up on anyone, rather He stands with you through all you pass through and gives you the strength to face it all. He may test us, but that is to see what is within us and how we would act in tough times, once we don’t give up believe a blessing is on its way.
Like Naomi, never feel God has abandoned you, He will never do that He loves us soo much and in all He does He gives the best and nothing less. Trust in Him and He will never let you down.
What Naomi was passing through was not God punishing her or giving up on her. But human nature will always bring about a negative mindset when things do downhill to blame others or even God for those tough times. When really you should be thanking God that you’ve overcome them all so far, and still have life to go on and reach an unexpected turn. Tests and obstacles will come but it’s how you handle them and your relationship with God that is the result. That is what will really see if you pass the test set or not.
One thing we have to remember is that ONLY God knows our tomorrow and not us, He sees further than we see and knows what’s to come for each of us. He has good intentions for us and we should never doubt that. Look at it this way, you’re on the fifteenth floor of a high storey building and look down, you may squint and try to get a good look at what you see below, but you’ll realise that you’re not able to see everything. That’s the human eyes showing you some of what is below but not everything. Well with God there are no blurred spots, uncertainty and no struggle to make out what’s happening. He knows everything.
He created us and everything around us, He is the alpha and omega the beginning and the end. So even before you sleep at night or wake up in the morning He has already planned out what will happen and the future is well secure in His hands. DO NOT BE SHAKEN FOR YOUR LIFE IS IN GOD’S HANDS YOU ARE SAFE AND WIL MAKE IT THROUGH.
14 At this they wept aloud again. Then Orpah kissed her mother-in-law goodbye, but Ruth clung to her. There are some people who no matter what happens, or what others do they will always be the first to run away and put themselves first. Once they know they have an escape route they’re out of the door. Then there are compassionate people who care about others, love others in Christ and always do their best to help others before themselves. Because in God’s ministry one of the important actions is to help others not just yourself. The ministry is about them and not you, God loves those who help others and follow the word of God.
15 “Look,” said Naomi, “your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her.” There is only one God and not gods. We serve a living God like no other, for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. CAN I GET AN AMEN TO THAT… That alone should keep your faith up to know of the greatest act that led us here today. God always has us in mind, continue to love Him and stay close, He has all that you need.
16 But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” 18 When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her. Ruth is amazing, loveable, humble, gracious, supportive, genuine and loyal. It is rare to find such dedicated people, not to say they aren’t around but in this generation at times, one can say that most are in it for themselves, once it suits them alone they’re happy. That self centred, selfish behaviour shouldn’t be practiced neither should it be seen as okay especially as a woman of God. Our God is not a selfish God so we shouldn’t have traits of selfishness. Do not get comfortable in ways that go against God, get comfortable in ways that please God and I pray from your good ways and obedience, that you receive favour in abundance. Amen.
19 So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirredbecause of them, and the women exclaimed, “Can this be Naomi?”
20 “Don’t call me Naomi,” she told them. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. 21 I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.” Bitterness against God, (the creator of Heaven and Earth and the one who created each and every one of us,) shouldn’t be something one should be proud of. We hurt God when we act in such way because it shows we don’t believe He can change situations, or is just out to punish us. All you have to do is look around at the events happening from shootings, stabbings and natural disasters etc. But yet with all this going on God still keeps you safe and able to see another day. Give Him all the glory and don’t doubt what He can do, and don’t ever turn against Him. I would rather prefer to have everyone turn against me than to have God turn against me.
I am here because of God; I have life because of God, I’m healthy because of God I am blessed because of God. Though I have bad times too I still stand firm in Christ because I believe God will see me through. That’s how it should be every time. No man or woman on earth will take all the glory or be put before God.
22 So Naomi returned from Moab accompanied by Ruth the Moabite, her daughter-in-law, arriving in Bethlehem as the barley harvest was beginning.
COMMENTARY Remember if you plan to marry and have children in your future, your husband shouldn’t be robbed off the goodness u have. Because u keep giving all of u out to others, hold onto some of u, pray to be even better and attract the best. So marriage in future and long term happiness can be sweet. Be a woman u can look at and be proud of.. No one can better yourself more than God and yourself..
At times when things don’t go our way, we may feel a little discouraged even though it’s human nature, shouldn’t be a comfort zone to stay in. There may be low times but that’s not to say what will follow will be more disappointment. To get to the good we must first pass through trying times, but in the end it’ll be worth it.
Naomi, lost everything in a foreign land- her husband and two sons died- and in her bitter disappointment, feeling that God had turned against her. Tried to persuade her daughter in laws to remain in Moab and remarry while she returned to the land of Judah (Ruth 1:13). Such a severing of a relationship could have cost Naomi dearly.
Discouragement comes when people feel they have seen it all and most of it was really bad. BUT no matter what age you are, you have never seen it all. There are no graduations from the school of life and death. No one knows how God will end His book, BUT He does tend to save the BEST FOR LAST. It is very dangerous to assume that what you will see out of life will be similar to what you saw before. God has His way of restoring purpose to our lives. Trust in Him.
For Naomi, restoring purpose and fulfilment in her life came through a relationship she tried to end. He daughter in law Ruth, who refused to leave her, was the key to Naomi’s happy future. It is very dangerous to send people away whom the Lord has brought into your life to accomplish His purposes.
Thank you for the gift of life, thank you for all that you have done for us, I pray that we shall all continue to work on being right before you. I pray that those reading this shall be blessed and highly favoured, to do exploit as ambassadors in Christ. Life is not easy but with you, you help us through and for that I thank you Father. It shall be well with us all.
